Play Time !!

No matter how tired I may be, I always appreciate any chance that comes across my way for some  play time !!  As a matter of fact, I sometimes try to transform  work  into play .
So, some days ago, when some festive baking was scheduled to take place in our home ,
I  grabbed the chance to play with my ‘little’ army of gingerbread people

I put eyes and mouths on their ‘suntanned’ faces and red and grey  ribbons for scarves.

I arranged and rearranged them on plates , platters , bowls, tables etc. ,  next to tiny Santas and robins and felt excited like a child with a new toy, just before Christmas.

I devoured some of my little ‘toys’ too and their spicy taste satisfied my palate and made me proud!! Yes, I had such good fun with them that it was really worth the whole effort and time I spent ‘bringing them to life’ !

Yesterday, it was play time again. When the baby fell asleep, I made some fun decorations for his  room. I  got the idea from Pinterest .
The idea is that you use plastic animals on canvas to make humoristic and playful  decorative items.
You actually cut the plastic toy into two and you stick the front part on canvas, which you then paint in whatever colour suits  the room.

The outcome is fantastic!!! It looks as if the animals have torn the canvas in their effort to  get out through  the wall!! I believe the baby will like them and will let his imagination free to make his own stories about his  zebra, elephant and green dinosaur.
Of course, you may already have understood that I had a great fun making them and I am really excited and happy about the way they look and how they fit in with the decoration of the baby’s room. ( The ‘theme’ of the room is :animals of the forest and the jungle , trees and birds. )

I can tell you that I feel quite exhausted by all the things I do  on a daily basis without any breaks  but  happy too , as I have also managed to  make some  little happy things for me and my house .
I wish you all many happy  moments during the festive season and  I hope you   find the time to ‘play’ and  look after  yourselves. You deserve it !!!

Merry Christmas !!!!

Colours in December

I’m always attracted to the random combination of colours in things and places I see in the street  or in Nature which  is  so strikingly beautiful  that an artist would envy   it.
Colours can transform the trivial and everyday to a piece of art .

Look at the photos of my visit to a seaside town some days ago . A tourist’s attraction during summer months it is still beautiful, maybe more , when tourists go away and the beach is deserted.
The warm sunny colours of the sunbeds, closed umbrellas, beach cabins and directors chairs against the pale blue of the sea made me pause and smile .

Winter weather has transformed the   place  into  a tranquil paradise where sea birds and some brave swimmers have taken the place of the noisy summer crowds.

Taverns  and beach bars are closed and empty.

Colours are fading but still very vivid under the Greek sun.

An amazing wooden sailing boat made me dream of romantic sea voyages, in turquoise waters.

Red ribbons  hanging from the naked branches of the trees celebrate Christmas in style.
A beautiful natural scenery where water and land embrace  under the grey winter sky, just before the rain starts.
Back at home, Christmas colours are everywhere .
My wreaths and favourite winter creatures and toys are accompanying us for yet another year.

I wish you all a very merry and bright Christmas full of beautiful colours and happy faces around you!!!!.

My love to all of you,
Tina x

December !

Happy New month!!!!!
December is here and the final countdown to Christmas has started!
Put on your festive ‘hats’ and feel merry cause Christmas comes but once a year!!!
Today for me was one of those days when you wake up and feel so creative and ready for work that you can ‘build a house’ with your two hands!!! J. Mmmm that feels so good….
Many moons ago, I bought  a roll of wallpaper at a bargain price which was love at first sight  for me.  It  has some of my favourite colours and it suits my bedroom. I had intended to cover an old piece of furniture with it , but plans changed and it was left collecting dust .
But today was its day!
Look at this wooden, tiny chest of drawers . I bought it last year , just because  …….

I  had thought of using some decoupage on it, but then I changed my mind and  just painted it white and put it on my white desk in my ‘studio’ .

Now , with all the changes that are taking place at home to accommodate the needs of my little one (e.g. baby’s room, baby’s tiny furniture , clothes, toys and so many more) I moved the   little chest of drawers into my bedroom and on my bedside table. This morning then, it occurred to me that it would look very pretty if I covered it with the ‘forgotten’ wallpaper and so I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.
I measured the surfaces I wanted to cover and I cut out the pieces. Then, I used a  wall paper glue and this is the result!

I must admit I’m thrilled with the outcome and it looks great in my bedroom.
I was so happy and so determined to continue using  glue and wall paper that I also covered a very old wooden  file box  that I disliked. See !

I’m super excited with both and can’t wait to show them off!!!

Well that’s for now. I wish you all a very merry , sparkling December!!

                          Love to all,
                          Tina xxx
