Easy makes for St Valentine's day!

Today is a sunny , bright day , a bit chilly but very pleasant to stay out in the sun.
Like other bloggers in this vast land, I have also been trying to bring spring and colour into my little house.

A pot of hyacinths , a bunch of tulips, pink candles and tea light holders ,  a new cushion in spring colours, brighten my days and please my eyesJ!

I was planning to write about something else this morning, but when I saw the sun shining
and the weather being so mild and spring like, I decided that I wanted this post to be full of colour and a more romantic touch!

I know it is a bit early for St Valentine’s, but  I can’t help adding some hearts into  my home décor and taking some pictures of heart shaped things and sweet treats!

I also thought of giving you some ideas about simple decorations for your house,
not just for St Valentine’s,  but for the whole year round.
Do you want to have a peek?

This is a wreath I made a few years ago, using twigs form a plant we pruned . It is very easy to make by bending the twigs and holding them in place with some cotton thread.
Then, I tied four lengths of ribbon around the wreath, at equal spaces, which I hold together by making a knot. Then, I added some more ribbons around the wreath forming small bows and added little fabric and clay hearts, small bird houses and other interesting stuff, which I change from season to season.

Then, you can hung it from the ceiling and make sure you arrange the lengths of the ribbons in such a way, so that it balances well.
I hope you give it a try and make something, similar, I’m sure you will enjoy the process and the final outcome!
If you have a nice wooden frame and some fabric here is another idea for you.
Cut out the fabric to fit the frame. I used a pink and white checked, cotton fabric. Stick it on a piece of cardboard of the same dimensions and then stick a small, red , fabric heart at the centre. Then, put it inside the frame and here you are! You have a new work of art at home, which cost you almost nothing. This is a nice present for a girl’s room.

My motto is that we should try and give new life to old things and use whatever we have at home to create our own unique ‘works of art’.
So have fun dear readers whatever you do, and try to add some colour into your lives, even if this is just some small but pretty spring buds…..
Thank you for reading.
Till next time,
